Club Info

The Equestrian Club of Virginia Tech is a recognized club in the Virginia Tech Sports Club Federation. It is composed of undergraduate students who have an interest in horses.

Other activities the Equestrian Club participates in include guest speakers, trips to the Virginia Horse Center, trips to other shows, and fund raising events such as open horse shows held on campus.



It's very simple, just follow these two steps:

SERVICE:

Assist the CALS Chair at any one of these events and recieve 1 service point. Keep in mind that going to more than one of these events will not be worth multiple points. Please contact Priya Subbarayan at psubb06@vt.edu for more information about participating at any of these events and to recieve your service point. Also remember to wear VT Equestrian attire at the events to promote the club and teams.

1.) Eduacational Sunday

- If you helped out with Educational Sunday you will recieve one service point.

2.) Dressage Saddles and Girths needed!!!!

- If anyone has a dressage saddle or girth that you wouldn't mind the club borrowing for the IDA horse show on February 24th, please e-mail Jess Gould at jgould@vt.edu. We promise we will take excellant care of your tack and in return you will receive a service point.

3.) Care Package to Iraq

- One of our CALS Alumni members is serving in Iraq right now so we as a club would like to send him and his platoon a care package. Please donate 4 care package items for a service point. The box will be in the tack room so just drop of your items with your name on them and you will receive a point. Please donate all items by March 25th. 4.) Kappa Delta 5K Run

- Come show your support and run or walk a 5K on March 29th. All proceeds benefit Prevent Child Abuse America. There is no cost to enter as our team has already been generously sponsored. The race begins at 11am and is at the Virginia Tech Duck Pond and Cross Country Course. Come support a great cause and get some exercise too! 5.) Relay for Life

- Come help out with the Relay for Life on April 18th. Watch your e-mails for more information. Sign up for our team on vtrelay.org

6.) Run a VT Equestrian Club Event

- Anyone willing to run an event, social, service, or fundraiser, will receive both of their service points. Contact Jess Gould for more information at jgould@vt.edu.

7.) The Big Event

- Come help out with a community service event on April 5th. Email Caitlin Cossaboom at caiti88@vt.edu for more information and to sign up!

8.) Silent Auction

- Bid on an item from the Capital Region Pony Club Silent Auction and receive one service point. The auction will be closed promptly at 9:01pm on March 20th, 2008. Contact Jess Gould for more information at jgould@vt.edu.

9.) Equestrian College Fair

- Riverbend High School in Fredericksburg, VA is holding an Equestrian College Fair on Wednesday April 2, 2008 from 7pm- 8:30pm. If anyone is interested in attending, this will be worth two service points. Contact Jess Gould for more information at jgould@vt.edu.

10.) Hokie Focus

- Set up a booth at the Hokie Focus event on April 12-13th, 2008 and talk about how awesome our Equestrian Club is to receive one service point! Contact Priya Subbarayan for more information at psubb06@vt.edu.

11.) Ag Day

- Come out and support Ag Day out on the drillfield on March 20th, 2008. Anyone willing to set up a table and talk about the club will receive one service point. Contact Priya Subbarayan for more information at psubb06@vt.edu.

SOCIAL:

1.) Movie Social

- Come hang out and watch a movie on Wednesday, January 23rd at 8:30pm. Contact Cary Proferes at proferes@vt.edu for more information.

2.) Eduacational Sunday

- If you attended Educational Sunday on February 17th as a spectator, you will receive one social point.

3.) Social Thursday Night, February 21st, with Zeta Psi

- Come hang out with Zeta Psi! It starts at 9pm. Check your e-mail or contact Cary Proferes at proferes@vt.edu for more information.

4.) Dinner after the VT IDA Show on Sunday February 24th.

- After everything at the barn is taken care of, head to El Rods for a club dinner to relax after our show day.

5.) The Big Event

6.) Attend the Relay for Life

- Come out and support the Relay for Life and the Equestrian Club as we walk for a cure for cancer! The Relay is scheduled for April 18th. Watch your e-mails for more information. Sign up for our team at vtrelay.org

7.) Dinner Social

- Come have dinner with other club members next Thursday night, March 20th, at 8pm. Watch your e-mails for more information.

8.) AZ Flag Football Tournament

- Come play in the Alpha Zeta flag football tournament on March 30th at 1pm. It will cost $5 a person to play. The price includes food and prizes. Please contact Diana Webber at dnwebber@vt.edu for more information or to sign up.

FUNDRAISING:

1.) Sports Club Raffle

- Sell raffle tickets to win awesome prizes from the Sports Club. If you sell one book of tickets you will receive 1 fundraising point, and two books will earn you 2 points. All sales must be made by March 27th. Be the amazing club member to sell the most tickets and you will win a cool bag with VT Equestrian stuff in it! Contact Stuart Sanders at mlss06@vt.edu for more information.

2.) Private Donations

- Any private donation to the club worth $25 is worth one service point, and a donation of $50 or more is worth 2 fundraising points. A donation letter with our tax exemption number will be sent out through the listserve.


NOT RECEIVING YOUR POINTS WILL RESULT IN -

1.) An inactive status in the club which may only be reinstated with at $50 fine.

2.) Not being able to show next semester at the first show.

If you haven't received your point for attending an event, please e-mail the person that ran that event to make sure your name was turned in.
